those who mourn should live as though they had nothing to mourn for; those who are enjoying life should live as though there were nothing to laugh about; those whose life is buying things should live as though they had nothing of their own; and those who have to deal with the world should not become engrossed in it. I say this because the world as we know it is passing away.

qui flent, tamquam non flentes et qui gaudent tamquam non gaudentes et qui emunt tamquam non possidentes et qui utuntur hoc mundo, tamquam non utantur praeterit enim figura hujus mundi

quelli che piangono, (vivere ndr) come se non piangessero; quelli che gioiscono, come se non gioissero; quelli che comprano, come se non possedessero; 31quelli che usano i beni del mondo, come se non li usassero pienamente: passa infatti la figura di questo mondo!
